The Client
One of the world’s oldest and largest companies, this client is a worldwide investment and securities firm with an extensive global network and locations in more than 50 countries. A leading provider of integrated wealth management services, the client’s offerings range from asset management to estate planning to corporate financing.

The Challenge
In the major metropolitan marketplace where the client is located, competition for highly skilled IT professionals is fierce. An increasing demand for the client’s services resulted in an ongoing need to hire developers, analysts, project managers and other seasoned IT experts to support existing and upcoming technology projects.

Although the client was working with several IT staffing providers to procure the in-demand talent required for its full-time technology openings, the results were not favorable. Not only was the client being presented with many ill-suited candidates for the openings, they were being charged exorbitant rates for the candidates they did choose to hire.

The firm sought a provider who could quickly fill its open requirements at a fair rate. Having heard of Pierce’s reputation for results, the client contacted them with hard-to-find, niche technical developer positions.

The Solution
Pierce started by having an in-depth discussion with the client in order to identify the exact requirements of the position, including the technical, intellectual and interpersonal skills required as well as the company culture and work environment. Armed with a solid understanding of the type of consultants the client required, Pierce conducted a targeted campaign to identify qualified candidates and was able to fill the senior technical developer positions within two weeks at a lower cost than the competition. Impressed with the Pierce team’s fast and accurate service as well as its reasonable cost structure, the client asked Pierce for help with several other technical requirements.

Determined to meet the client’s needs quickly and effectively, the Pierce team came up with an innovative and time-saving “focused hire” strategy. Because the client had similar positions open in different departments with different hiring managers, Pierce scheduled a focused hire day. During that day, 12 candidates were presented to multiple managers who had openings for the same hard-to-find skill sets. This initiative enabled hiring managers to meet a number of candidates in one day, compare their strengths and weaknesses, and collaboratively select the individuals they wanted to hire. As a result, five top-notch consultants were hired in just one day.

The Results
In the first three months of partnering with this client, Pierce filled an impressive 23 full-time strategic hires, with openings for 17 more. Placements included software developers, business analysts, project managers and QA testers. The new employees hit the ground running and have contributed to the success of key financial system, workflow and documentation projects.
